Recently, Zhejiang Provincial Water Conservancy Department and Hechang Office jointly issued a document announcing the list of "Beautiful Rivers and Lakes" in Zhejiang Province in 2019. After Phoenix Lake was appraised as a provincial "Beautiful Rivers and Lakes" last year, Wangmuqiao Port was also successfully selected this year.

Wangmuqiao Port, located in the eastern part of Tongxiang, is connected to the Beijing-Hangzhou Ancient Canal in the north and Lianhuaqiao Port in the south. It flows through Puyuan Town from north to south. It is an important backbone river channel in Puyuan Town and not only undertakes the task of flood discharge and drainage of 26 square kilometers of land in the region.

"We need to realize smooth and clear rivers, beautiful green scenery on the banks, sound functions and harmony between people and water through governance." Under the careful planning and active efforts of the Municipal Water Conservancy Bureau, the Wangmuqiao Port Regulation Project was successfully included in the "12th Five-Year Plan" national key area small and medium-sized river regulation project. According to the principle of "overall planning, systematic management and effective integration", the project is organically integrated with the construction of Puyuan small town, and the beautiful river and lake construction project of Wangmuqiao Port was started in 2015.

"The total investment of the project is about 110 million yuan, involving an area with a total length of 11.8 kilometers of Wangmuqiao Port and its tributaries Nanmiaozhi Port and Taojiaqiao Port." The person in charge said, "River dredging, dike reinforcement, bank protection construction, bank slope greening, ecological restoration, landscape improvement and other projects are among them." In addition, on the basis of the construction of beautiful rivers and lakes, Wangmuqiao Port has fully implemented the river length system, regularly carried out river dredging, equipped with the construction of hydrological and water quality monitoring facilities, and implemented "ID card" management of the discharge ports along the river.

Today, the management and protection of Wangmuqiao Port are in place, and the satisfaction and sense of acquisition of the surrounding people for the water ecological environment have also improved significantly.
